{"id":447,"date":"2013-09-19T12:59:00","date_gmt":"2013-09-19T12:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.vwlowen.co.uk\/?p=447"},"modified":"2013-09-19T16:55:12","modified_gmt":"2013-09-19T16:55:12","slug":"rain-gauge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vwlowen.co.uk\/blog\/?p=447","title":{"rendered":"Rain Gauge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>About a week ago, before the nice weather came to an end, I decided to clean the &#8216;tipping bucket&#8217; in the rain gauge for my <a href=\"http:\/\/vwlowen.co.uk\/picaxe\/weather-station\/page-5.htm\">weather station<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, over the years, the case had become amazingly brittle. I hardly touched it and it fell apart into dozens of pieces.<\/p>\n<p>It was made from a 100 CD &#8216;cakebox&#8217; and I found a dealer on ebay who sold the empty cases for \u00a31 each (as a pack of 6 but, hey, it looks like I&#8217;ll need a few spares!).<\/p>\n<p>It was a twist-on type, the same as the existing one, but naturally sod&#8217;s law didn&#8217;t make it too easy. The old one only had three fixing lugs, the new ones have 4.
