Configuring RouterStats for the Thomson 585

Step 1

When you open RouterStats for the first time, it should automatically open its configuration window. Otherwise, to open the configuration window, press the Configure button, shown above.

In the Router Make & Model section, select the radio button appropriate for your router.

In the Login section, the URL should already be there for you unless you've changed the IP address from the default (192.168.1.254). If you need to change the IP address, be careful not to change any other text in this box.

If you need to log in to your router, check the Login checkbox and enter your username and password.

Step 2

Select the Router Search Text Tab and click the Get Page button.

You may need to press the Get Page button a couple of times but, with luck, the router's stats page should be displayed in the window.

Ignore any warnings about JavaScript needing to be enabled. RouterStats works without it!

Step 3

RouterStats already knows how to obtain the Noise Margin and Connection Speed figures but we can also teach it how to locate a pair of User-defined values.

For example, if we wanted to plot changes in the Up and Down Output Power values, find where they are displayed in the window and highlight the appropriate text (1).

Press the User-def 1 button (2) in order to mark its position. The two values should appear below the window to the right hand side (3).

Data Transferred

Note that there is a bug in the Thomson ST585 firmware which prevents the 'Data Transferred' values being displayed. Never-the-less, RouterStats is able to obtain the values if you highlight the appropriate text (for example, highlight the word Data).

When you press the Mark button (2), the values shown below the window (at (3)) will not be correct but the correct values should be picked up on the main Toolbar and plotted on the graphs once RouterStats is running .

Please note also that the Data Transferred values can change between KB, MB and GB. The values shown on the RouterStats Toolbar will show the data in the same format as the "Stats Page". The graphs will display the values as KB up to the first 1MB, after which they will always be plotted in MB. Above 1GB, values will be re-calculated and plotted in MB. (1GB = 1024MB).

The next step is to configure the graphs.

RouterStats will automatically save your configuration settings when it closes but you can save the settings at any time by clicking the Apply & Save button on the Configuration Window's bottom panel.
